Fun in the Snow!

Volkspark Friedrichshain in Winter

It is not too often that we decide to unplug ourselves from the world while we are in Berlin, it is REALLY hard to do. Most often we have to leave Berlin in order to do it. On this past Sunday an opportunity arose for us to do so. With Stephanie leaving for a couple days to go to a conference and us not having much time together alone as a family, we decided to take advantage of our now "free day". It seems either we have a day off and the kids are in school, we have a day off and are running a thousand errands with the kids, or we have the day off and are checking email and getting a thousand phone calls and not giving the kids the amount of personal attention they need and deserve. Since it had been awhile since we had gone sled riding, I decided I would take Grace and Caleb while Stephanie stayed home with Hanna to pack. Granted Hanna would not allow that which is understood, so instead they spent some quality time reading books and dancing and singing together. The sledding group headed out early to hit the slopes at Volkspark Friedrichshain before they got crowded and so we would be able to be back in time for lunch and of course HOT CHOCOLATE! Grace, Caleb and I had such a blast together, the pictures cannot really capture the joy that we had. It was great not being in a rush, to just enjoy time together, as a family and to focus on those that matter most to me. UNPLUG, go ahead and try it some time!

Starting Off...
...catching some speed...
..."should we do it again?"...
..."so how can we go faster?"...
"Can you catch me?"
"I really am Superman!"
"Yummy Goodness!"
"Do mommy and daddy know what I am drinking?"

Not Pictured is Grace, Caleb and Daddy on the sled together.

Funny I just found the hood for Caleb's coat the other day while cleaning out the crawlspace - looks like you're fine without it! Love the pictures!
